Life is like the Atom
Atoms are so intricately beautiful, they continue to puzzle even our brightest of scientists. Just a nucleus with electrons whizzing around. Who knew such simplicity could be so beautiful. They make up everything around us, what we can and can't see, what we can and can't touch.
But what are they really? In the simplest of terms, atoms are a positive nucleus orbited by tiny little electrons just whizzing around with apparently nothing better to do.
This was taught on the first day of chemistry class and it is totally correct, but if you thought for a second that this was all there is to atoms, then you my friend are totally incorrect.
Atoms are so intricately beautiful, they're a whole world by themselves. These electrons all orbit at varying distances from the nucleus, yet are all still attracted. It is these distances that give this little "world" its characteristics. Let me explain...
Life is like the atom,
And God is the nucleus.
And we are those little electrons
Each one of us on their own journey,
the journey to God,
all of us scattered along the spectrum,
some closer, many further.
Basic physics tells us that the further an electron is from the nucleus, the weaker the attraction. Very intuitive don't you think? Now what does this mean to us? It means that it's easier for this further orbiting electron to get knocked off and orbit another nucleus. Close proximity of any other atom will attract the electron and steal it away, away from its original nucleus, the one it once belonged to, the one who very deeply desired to hold it close.
As you can see, this loss is not due to the fault of the nucleus, but the electron itself. Lets proportionally scale up an average atom. If you were to place marbles in the center of a football stadium to represent its nucleus, its electrons can orbit as far as the farthest seats in the stadium. If you can visually imagine that, you know that thats a large distance. So the issue here is not with the nucleus. The nature of the nucleus is non changing. The nucleus did not stop attracting the electron, nor did its attraction towards it become weaker. This whole loss happened because the electron decided to orbit further away from the nucleus.
The nature of God is unchanging. He is always there calling us towards him. His "nuclear charge" is always strong and never ending. The sad reality is that we as humans, by our own free will decide to "orbit" our lives further away from God. We move further away, each day decreasing the effective nuclear charge we feel towards Him. Has he stopped loving us? No, infact its the other way around. And soon enough another nucleus comes around, snatching us away. Today the nucleus of hate, tomorrow that of lust, the next day greed.
The attractive forces of these "nuclei" are so strong that once you enter their orbit, it's difficult to leave. In fact, each one is stronger than the next, so you end up in a constant battle, a tug of war one may say, bouncing back and forth between them all.
Atoms are so intricately beautiful that electric attractions isn't all they're about. One very interesting aspect of the atom is that when an electron jumps closer to the nucleus it gives of light. The closer the electron jumps, the higher energy it emits. This emission of energy we see as light of different colours. Likewise, the closer we get to the nucleus we choose to orbit, the more of that quality we emit to the world. The closer you get to greed, the more you emit that to the world. The closer you jump towards lust, the more you spread that within the world. Soon enough the world is overflowing bright with all these characteristics, hate, greed, infidelity, prejudice, arrogance, and lust. But is it really bright?
If only there was a nucleus to closely orbit that will evoke a beneficial positive feedback into our world. A nucleus that will keep us in peace and happiness with everyone around us. The truth is this nucleus is indeed present. God is a strong "nucleus," waiting each day for us to return back to Him, back to orbiting love, joy, and purity. It is up to us to decide whether we want to orbit from a far or near. The closer we are, the stronger we will feel His "nuclear charge" acting on us, keeping us close. The closer we decide to get, the greater the energy of light we shine into the world, the more peace, happiness, love, genuinity, and life we spread to the world, to those who mean the most to us.
The atom is so intricately beautiful, who knew such a "small world" could so accurately depict our real world. If this idea about the atom is so intuitive why do we forget about it in our own lives? Why do we treat it as if it is not worth the time of day? Why do we act as if our distance from God will not have any effect on our life? Why do we forget that our proximity to God changes and uplifts us and those around us? Why do we treat this relationship as if it is unnecessary? Why do we continue to emit "negative" colours into the world? If only we realized, if only we worked towards it, if only...

this is amazing! you really have an incredible way of looking at the world.
